We're open to listening to reasonable explanations, and we don't just look at raw numbers.
We know there are factors affecting mileage reporting, and take them into account when reviewing your usage, or working with you to fix a problem. Here are some examples:
- For the first policy year (only), your starting odometer reading and the one you give us for the renewal will only be about nine months apart.
- Depending on when your policy begins, your first year's odometer calculation might not take into account winter storage (i.e. we may project mileage based on X miles per day. However, you're about to store the auto for the winter and won't use it at all for another 3 months or so).
- If your auto's odometer reads in kilometers, we can perform a conversion with no problem.
