You may decide to sell your auto. If so, and you decide to use a consignment lot or something similar to get the sale accomplished, all of the care, custody and control issues brought up when we discussed restoration shops apply to this situation as well.
The consignment lot needs to have their own insurance, and if you sign a waiver absolving them of liability you are leaving yourself without insurance protection. Further, since on one of these lots anyone can climb in and whiz off for a test drive (whether or not they know how to handle the auto) you are similarly at risk here.
While most folks wouldn't even think of leaving their fine collectible auto in a vacant lot with a "for sale" sign on it (or on the street, at the bowling alley, etc. etc.), some bonehead may do it sooner or later, so we also must warn you that leaving the car unattended in this manner is also not a covered risk.
